Boxers are "thinkers" and "wonderful in agility" says Brenda about the many boxers
she's worked with. Boxers, she says are unlike any other breed, quick to learn, never bored,
and easy to train.
Brenda has won many awards and titles with her boxers. According to Brenda,
there isn't a single word in the English language that can adequately describe her dog Jill, who
achieved her CGC, CD, UCD, OA, and OAJ. In fact, Brenda has also won Best Adult in Match, Best of
Breed, Working Group 2nd, and many obedience and agility awards with her Boxers. She says she
owes a big thanks to Lee Longoria, who taught her to be a team with her dogs. Brenda is a long
time member of the club and teaches Agility.
Carolyn Smelcer is a devoted dog lover. She works at the Humane Society and believes rescued
mutts make the best dogs. She asks everyone to, "Please volunteer at an animal shelter, help save
lives and adopt a homeless dog. Don't forget them."
When she isn't trying to find homes for shelter dogs, Carolyn is busy training her own pack
of pooches. Carolyn likes small ankle biters. She has four miniature Dachshunds named Barron,
Hans, Andie, and Chelsea and a Chihuahua named Frito. Barron is the star of the family with many
titles and awards. He has his CGC, CD, UCD, and ASCA CD. Not only that, Barron has competed in
wiener dog races and costume contests.
In Spokane, if you want to know about Rally, ask Pat, now a provisional Rally judge for all three
levels of Rally. She and her dog Kandee have almost single-handedly brought this new dog sport to the
forefront.
Kandee, of course, is "amazing" on a
Rally course. As Pat would put it, "once she knows what's expected, and knows how to do it, she
sure makes me look good."
Kandee is a Shetland Sheepdog, or Sheltie. Pat loves this breed because
they are intelligent, sweet natured, trainable, extremely versatile, and have the desire to please.
And as you can see from Kandee's photo, beauty is an added bonus. Kandee or Marchwind Royl
Executive Sweet, has earned her UCD, CDX, OA, OAJ, AD, NAC, NJC, NJC-V, ASCA-CD, and CGC. Rally
titles are just around the corner.
Lyssa is seldom seen without her Australian Shepherd, Indy. They are a team devoted to one
another. Says Lyssa, "Indy and I are both on the shy side, so competing has been a bit scary."
You wouldn't know it by the awards they have won.
Indy is only three years old and already has earned numerous titles including AKC-CD, U-CD,
CKC-CD, CGC, ASCA-CD, OA, OAJ, OAP, OJP, NAC, NJC, and 2HITs.
According to Lyssa, "We both enjoy it so much we're never gonna stop!" Aussies are smart, fun, and
very loving, in a word "AWESOME!"
Lyssa also owns two Schipperkes, Holly and Jet. Holly is retired from competition while Lyssa's son
Kyle is training Jet.

Poodles, Poodles and more Poodles. Irene is a Poodle lover.
Her three dogs are...[drum roll, please] Poodles named Tessie, Ricky, and K.C. Irene says, "They
are smart and like their people," and describes them as "outstanding." What more could a dog
owner want?
Irene has been a member of LCDTC for many years and teaches Obedience and Rally classes.
Simply put, Marsha is in love with Golden Retrievers. She became interested in the breed by chance.
"A neighbor of ours had two
goldens and we just fell in love with them," says Marsha. Now she has two of
her own, Kirby and Sunnie [pictured here]. When these two dogs enter a room, the party begins! They
are always happy dogs, or if forced to use one word to describe them, Marsha would go with "goofy."
Marsha is an active member of the club and teaches obedience. Marsha has kept busy training, too.
Kirby has earned his AKC-CD, UKC-CD, CKC-CD, and two High in Trials. Sunnie is right behind with a CGC.
Marsha believes that Goldens think the world was put here to love them and requests all of us to, "Please
don't tell them any different."
If you looked up energetic in the dictionary, next to it would be a picture of Penney Morse. Penney
is one of our agility instructors. She teaches Intro to Agility, Agility, Youth Agility and Puppy
Agility. Penney knows agility. As if teaching all those classes isn't enough, she teaches obedience,
too! Then, there is the fact that she trains her own three dogs, Skooter, Cynder, and Chyna. And,
she trains for excellence
Talk about awards! Skooter has earned his AKCCD, CDX, NA, NAJ, OA, OAJ, AX, AXJ, UD-CD, CDX, ASCA-CD,
CDX, and NADAC-NAC, NJC, NTC, NTNG, NGC, OAC, OJC, USDAA-NA. Cynder has earned her UKC-CD, ASCA-CD,
NADAC-NAC, NOAC, and NJC. In a word "WOW!" Seriously, WOW!
Penney loves many breeds but the bearded collie is probably her favorite. Skooter is a bearded
collie. "Skooter has been one of my best dogs and probably will always be my best."
If you were to ask Betsy what her favorite breed is, she would reply, "I like all dogs." Betsy
has two of her own along with various other pets, including birds and cats.
Her older dog, Jackie, a Cardigan Welsh "bad to the bone" Corgi, has earned her AKC-CDX. Betsy's second
dog Chadwick, better known as "Chaddy, my sweetheart boy" is a beautiful Australian Shepherd that she
rescued from Spokanimal. Chad is doing great
in obedience and will be trying for his CD soon. Betsy is an instructor at the club and organizes the
monthly Fun Matches.
According to Sheila, if you are looking for the "best all around dog for family and hunting," you
are looking for a Labrador Retriever. Sheila is a long-time club member and instructor at Lilac City
Dog Training Club and she has trained labs for many years. Among the titles she and her dogs Bronson
and Tango have earned are, AKC, CDs and UKC CDs with scores high enough to earn first through fourth
placings.
Her newest dog, Maverick is of course, a black lab. He is young, enthusiastic, and a joy to
be around. Sheila hopes they spend many years together in the obedience ring, but to her, "It is
more about our relationship and having fun than it is about winning first place."
