Lilac City Dog Training Club is proud to offer a full range of classes in which
we train you to train your dog. Classes are open to purebred and mixed breeds, young and not-so-young
dogs
Classes are offered year round in our indoor training hall in Spokane's north side. We're located at 1612 E.
Houston.

Classes Offered
Puppy Kindergarten
Open to puppies 3-5 months of age. This class will help you and your puppy get off to a good start.
Puppies must have 3 puppy shots or a vet recommendation to attend class.
Beginning
Open to dogs 6 months or older. Basic commands, control, and behavior instructions.
Beginning Young Dog
A beginning class with the younger dog in mind. Open to dogs 5 months to one year. Basic
commands, control, and behavior instructions.
Beginning Small Dog
Open to small breed dogs 6 months or older. Basic commands, control, and behavior instructions tailored
to the needs of smaller dogs.
Intermediate Obedience
This class is open to dogs who have completed a beginning
class. This class builds on the foundation learned in the beginning
obedience classes and is specifically geared towards those exercises which are
performed during the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. The CGC test will be
offered on the eighth week of class.
As described by the AKC: “Started
in 1989, CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have
good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a
two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic
good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a
certificate from the American Kennel Club.”
Advanced Novice
Open to dogs and owners that have completed a beginning class. Off-leash control and polishing to
make your dog a reliable and well-behaved family member. Also covered are rules for
AKC/UKC novice class
competition.
Competition Advanced Obedience
This class is specifically geared towards those dogs and
owners who are preparing to compete in the obedience ring. This class will
cover the rules for AKC/UKC novice class competition and will focus on the dog
and owner working as a team to fine-tune the skills needed to succeed in the
Novice ring, including attention work, footwork and distractions.
Open
Building upon the skills learned in our Advanced class, this class offers instruction in retrieving,
jumping, drop on recall, dumbbell work and other techniques to prepare you and your dog for competition.
Utility
The highest level of competition for obedience trials. You and your dog will learn hand signals, directed
jumping, scent discrimination, and directed retrieve.
Agility
Open to dogs that have successfully completed two obedience classes. This class includes instruction in
running an obstacle course including:
- Jumping
- Tunnels
- Ladders
- Weave poles
- Dog walk
- A-frame
Rally
Rally is a combination of obedience and agility. Handlers will enjoy this fun and relaxed class. Dogs need to
have completed at least one obedience class prior to participation in Rally.
Conformation
This class is for show dogs. Learn ring procedures such as stacking, gaiting, ring pattern, baiting,
and more.
